Calgary's Best Date Nights
Looking for a new adventure, a night out without the kids? Having a date night is important, a night out without kids and the stress of normal life to escape with your partner - sounds perfect doesn't it? But where should you go? I have highlighted my favourite date night spots around town to share with you.
High above it all where the views are endless and the food divine, you will find Major Tom, one of Calgary's newest hot spots. Step into the elevator and arrive on the 40th floor, it feels just like you walked into an NYC hot spot.
One of the most exclusive places to dine tucked away in behind Nupo. Most would not know its existence but this is where chef Darren takes you on a culinary journey of his choice to only eight diners a night, three times a week. This is not just dinner this is an experience. Tickets sell out fast though so you have to be quick.
An amazing plant setting amongst crystal chandeliers is the most amazing setting for this Mediterranean menu. Make sure to try some of the cocktails and the cheese-stuffed garlic bread is to die for.
If Mexican fare is on your quest for your night out then look no further for authentic upscale Mexican cuisine worthy of date night. Don't forget to order a few margaritas.
Ten Foot Henry
Still one of my favourite night outs, Ten Foot Henry never disappoints with their farm to table approach of fresh ingredients. They cater to all types of dinners and diets. The whipped feta still remains one of the top appetizers for me.
Still one of my favourite places for drinks, small or large format plates. If you like oysters make sure to have them here, they come accompanied with a house-made hot sauce bursting with flavour. Located on Stephen Avenue, The Wednesday Room mixes mid-century charm with modern food in a fabulous atmosphere. I thought I saw Don Draper at the table in the corner. On Wednesdays, you can enjoy Happy Hour all evening.
Just looking for drinks? Then look no further than Proof, the name says it all. Some of the most complicated amazing drinks in the Calgary area. A great place to start the night or finish.
Just down the street in an unmarked location that you can almost walk by if you didn't know its existence is Shelter. The only giveaway is the red rope at the front unmarked door. A secret place to enjoy top quality cocktails with an extensive list to satisfy any discriminative taste buds.
Not just a bar, the drinks are great but the food is like nothing else in Calgary. With a Hawaiian twist on local ingredients, you can't go wrong with LuLu Bar
Another great nightspot on the list with a variety of high-end dishes to share or eat solo. Also doubles as a great place for lunch.
