As part of the Woodcreek Community, Woodlands is located in the southwest quadrant of the City of Calgary. Along with the Woodbine community, the Woodlands community was established in 1980, after which time the communities underwent extensive development. Today, the community is bound to the north by Anderson Road, to the south by Fish Creek Park, to the east by Canyon Meadows Golf Course and to the west by Tsuu Tina Reserve. Due to the location of the Woodlands community, residents enjoy easy access to a variety of recreational opportunities, such as those provided by the nearby Tsuu Tina Reserve, Canyon Meadows Golf Course, Glenmore Park and Fish Creek Park. The Downtown Calgary area is also located nearby and can be easily reached via the LRT system.
In addition to providing residents with easy access to a variety of recreational opportunities and the Downtown Calgary area, the Woodlands community is served by an active community association. At the community centre, residents can participate in a number of activities such as Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, a seniors program and the Bulldogs football program. The centre also boasts a number of facilities, including two skating rinks, a fitness center, a dance studio, tennis courts, several playing fields and basketball nets.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Woodlands community attend the public school of Woodlands or Chinook Park, with Chinook Park offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic schools of St. Benedict and St. Gerard also serve the community, with the latter offering a French Immersion program. The public junior high schools of Woodman, Harold Panabaker and Elboya also serve the community, with Harold Panabaker and Elboya offering French Immersion programs. Harold Panabaker is also unique in that it serves only 7th and 8th grade students, while Elboya serves only 9th grade students. The Catholic junior high schools of St. Stephen and Ecole St. Matthew also serve the community. High schools serving the community include the public high schools of Henry Wise Wood and Dr. E.P. Scarlet, with the latter offering a French Immersion program, and the Catholic high school of Bishop Grandin. Show Less...
