Situated in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, the aptly named community of University Heights is located on the south end of University of Calgary campus. Developed in the early 1960s and established in 1963, the community of University Heights is bound to the north by 24 Avenue, to the south by 16 Avenue, to the east by University Drive and to the west by Shaganappi Trail. Thanks to the location of the community, residents enjoy close proximity to a variety of attractions. These include Burns Stadium, McMahon Stadium and Foothills Athletic Park, while 184 acres of University of Calgary endowment lands are located adjacent to the communtiy. The Downtown Calgary area is also easily accessible via Crowchild Trail, providing residents with easy access to all that the Downtown area has to offer.
In addition to being located near to many of the city's amenities, the community of University Heights is also served by an active community association. While University Heights does not have a community association, it does offer baseball and soccer facilities. Furthermore, the community association hosts a number of activities and events throughout the year, including arts and crafts programs, athletic programs, an annual Stampede breakfast and community dances.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in real estate for sale in the University Heights community may attend the public schools of University and Banff Trail or the Catholic schools of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Pius. The schools of Banff Trail and St. Pius both offer French Immersion programs. Junior high students who live in the University Heights community may attend the public schools of Queen Elizabeth and Branton, with Branton offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic junior high schools of St. Vincent de Paul and Madeleine d'Houet serve the community as well.
