After being annexed to the city in 1961, the community of Temple was established 16 years later in 1977. Once referred to as one of "The Properties" along with the neighboring communities of Pineridge, Whitehorn and Rundle, the community of Temple is now a standalone community with much to offer to its residents. Today, the community is bound to the north by McKnight Boulevard, to the south by 32 Avenue, to the east by 68 Street and to the west by 52 Street. Thanks to the community's convenient location, residents enjoy easy access to a variety of employment opportunities as well as the Calgary International Airport. Other nearby sites include the Village Square Leisure and regional bike paths.
Closer to home, the Temple community features a community hall that offers both large and small meeting spaces. With a main hall that is capable of holding up to 250 people, the community center regularly hosts a variety of community events, groups and activities. Some of these include Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, babysitting courses, first aid courses and preschool. The association also maintains an all-season skating rink, a tennis court and a basketball court. Thanks to the community's numerous facilities, the association is also able to host a variety of youth and adult sports programs.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Temple community may attend the public schools of Guy Weadick, Annie Foote and Mayland Heights or the Catholic schools of Father Scollen, St. Martha and St. Thomas More. Both Mayland Heights and St. Martha offer French Immersion programs. The public junior high schools of Annie Gale, Dr. Gordon Higgins and Bob Edwards also serve the community, as do the Catholic schools of St. Martha and Father Scollen. Both Bob Edwards and St. Martha offer French Immersion programs. High schools serving the Temple community include the public high school of Lester B. Pearson, which offers a French Immersion program, and the Catholic high school of Bishop McNally. Show Less...
