Located in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, the Symons Valley/Sherwood community is a residential neighbourhood served by the Kincora Community Association. The community itself is bound to the south by Stoney Trail, to the east by Symons Valley Road and to the west by Sarcee Trail. The community consists of the several smaller communities of Evanston, Kincora, Sherwood, Sage Hill and Nolan Hill. The community of Kincora consists of 120 acres of park and Environmental Reserve as well as a gazebo, play equipment and a Storm Water pond.
Residents of the Symons Valley community enjoy access to a number of recreational opportunities. Not only are several parks and facilities available within a relatively short distance from the community, but the community is also home to recreational pathways and ample green space. Popular attractions outside of the community include the nearby 800-acre Nose Hill Park and the golf courses of Country Hills, The Hamptons, Harvest Hills and Fox Hollow.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Symons Valley/Sherwood community may attend the public schools of King George and Cambrian Heights or the Catholic schools of St. Pius and St. Bede. Both King George and St. Pius offer French Immersion programs. Junior high schools serving the Symons Valley community include the public school of Georges P. Vanier and the Catholic schools of Madeleine d'Houet and St. Margaret. Of these three schools, Georges P. Vanier is the only one to offer a French Immersion program. High school students who live in the Symons Valley/Sherwood community may attend the public high schools of James Fowler and William Aberhart, the latter of which offers a French Immersion program.
