Although the St. Andrews Heights community was annexed in 1910, it wasn't until 1953 that the community was established and developed. Prior to its development, the land that is now the St. Andrews Heights community served as a prestigious golf course that had been founded by British immigrants. Today, the land that comprise the St. Andrews Heights community is bound to the north by 16 Avenue, to the south by Toronto Crescent, to the east by Crowchild Trail and to the west by 29 Street and the Foothills Hospital Complex.
Characterized by its curvilinear streets, the St. Andrews Heights community provides its residents with excellent views of the Calgary area. Thanks to the community's proximity to the city, residents enjoy easy access to popular attractions such as the Foothills Athletic Park, the McMahon Stadium, the University of Calgary and several restaurants and retailers. Furthermore, the St. Andrews Heights community association offers a variety of programs to residents throughout the year, including fitness classes, a seniors group, a soccer program and fitness classes. Recreational facilities provided by the community association include a skating rink, tennis courts, a basketball court, tobogganing hills, a playground and a large amount of green space.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested homes for sale in the St. Andrews Heights community may attend the public schools of University, Briar Hill and Banff Trail or the Catholic schools of Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Pius. Both Banff Trail and St. Pius offer French Immersion programs. Junior high schools serving the St. Andrews Heights community include the public schools of Queen Elizabeth and Branton and the Catholic school of Our Lady of the Assumption and Madeleine d'Houet. Of these four schools, Branton is the only one to offer a French Immersion program. The public high schools of Queen Elizabeth and William Aberhart and the Catholic school of St. Francis also serve the community, with both William Aberhart and St. Francis offering French Immersion programs.
