Offering views of the Rocky Mountains and Canada Olympic Park, the community of Silver Springs was established in 1972. By 1980, the community was fully developed and being served by an active community association. Today, the community is bound to the north by Crowchild Trail, to the south by Bow River, to the east by Sarcee Trail and to the west by Nose Hill Drive and 85 Street. Thanks to the community's location, residents regularly enjoy the recreational opportunities available at nearby Bowmont Park.
In addition to the recreational opportunities that are available in the surrounding area, the community of Silver Springs also provides residents with plenty to do within their own community. The sports program found in the Silver Springs community is one of the largest in the area, with hundreds of residents signing up for softball, soccer and baseball. The community center also provides residents with opportunities to enjoy a number of activities, including yoga, painting, meditation, fitness, kids dance and martial arts. The community centre also features several recreational facilities, including 2 skating rinks and an outdoor pool.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Silver Springs community may attend the public schools of Silver Springs, Varsity Acres and W.O. Mitchell, with Varsity Acres offering a French Immersion program. Catholic elementary schools serving the community include St. Sylvester and St. Luke. The Silver Springs community is also served by the public junior high schools of Montgomery and Branton and the Catholic junior high schools of Madeleine d'Houet and St. Vincent de Paul. Of these four schools, only Branton offers a French Immersion program. High schools serving the Silver Springs community include the public high schools of Bowness and William Aberhart and the Catholic high school of St. Francis.
