Served by a common community association, the Shawnee Slopes / Evergreen Estates communities offer an attractive landscape coupled with numerous historic sites. Yet, Shawnee Slopes was only recently established in 1986, while Evergreen Estates was established in 1990. Today, the community is bound to the north by of Fish Creek Provincial park, to the south by James McKevitte Road and Fish Creek Boulevard, to the east by Macleod Trail and to the west by Fish Creek Provincial Park and Fish Creek Boulevard. Thanks to the community’s location next to Fish Creek Provincial Park, residents enjoy easy access to a variety of recreational opportunities right outside their door. At the same time, residents enjoy direct access to the Downtown area via the Macleod Trail.

Once considered to be part of Midnapore Development, the Shawnee Slopes portion of the community consists primarily of low-density residential structures. While the area is characterized by the gentle prairie land that is typical for the region, the area along the Fish Creek Valley provides major slopes and changes in topography. The community is also home to the Shaw Woollen Mill, which is a designated historic site located near to the intersection of Macleod Trail and James McKevitt Road S.W.

Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Shawnee Slopes / Evergreen Estates communities may attend the public schools of Eugene Coste, Sundance or Janet Johnstone. Sundance and Janet Johnstone both offer French Immersion programs, with Janet Johnstone serving Kindergarten and 1st grade students and Sundance serving 2nd through 6th grade students. The Catholic elementary schools of St. Catherine, St. Jude, St. Stephen, Ecole St. Matthew, Madeiline D-Houet, Our Lady of Peace and St. Gerard also serve the community, with Madeleine D-Houet and St. Gerard offering French Immersion programs. Junior high students living in the communities may attend the public schools of Harold Panabaker and Elboya, both of which offer a French Immersion program. Harold Panabaker serves only 7th and 8th grade students, while Elboya serves only 9th grade students. Residents may also choose to attend the Catholic junior high school of Ecole St. Matthew, Our Lady of Peace or St. Stephen. Public high schools serving the area include Centennial and Dr. E.P. Scarlet, the latter of which offers a French Immersion program, while the Catholic school of Bishop O’Byrne also serves the area.  Show Less...
