After being annexed to the city in 1907, the area that is known as the Roxboro community was officially established in 1923. In 1968, the community of Roxboor was incorporated into one community with Rideau Park. Today, the community is bound to the north and to the west by the Elbow River, to the east by the Escarpment and to the south by 33 Avenue and 4 Street. Surrounded by natural amenities, the small inner-city of Roxboro consists primarily of single-family dwellings located near to the downtown area.
Thanks to the location of the community of Roxboro, residents do not have to travel far if they wish to reach the Downtown area. In fact, Downtown is located just 2.5 kilometres away via 4th Street S.W. The community is also located near to Macleod Trail, the pathway system and the natural amenities provided by the Elbow River. As such, many parts of the community provide excellent views of the city as well as the nearby mountains. The community centre also provides residents with access to an outdoor skating rink as well as tennis courts.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in properties for sale in the Roxboro community may attend the public schools of Rideau Park or William Reid. Parents who wish to send their children to a Catholic school may send them to St. Monica, Holy Name or St. Michael. Both Holy Name and William Reid offer French Immersion programs. Junior high students who live in Roxboro may attend the public schools of Rideau Park or Elboya, with Elboya offering a French Immersion program, or they may attend the Catholic schools of St. Monica or St. Michael. High schools serving the Roxboro community include the public school of Western Canada, which offers a French Immersion program, and the Catholic school of St. Mary's. Show Less...
