Despite having been annexed to the city in 1989, the community of Rocky Ridge Ranch was not established until 1997. Today, the area is bound to the north by 112 Avenue and Country Hills Boulevard, to the south by Crowchild Trail, to the east by Stoney Trail and to the west by Twelve Mile Coulee Road and 117 Street. Thanks to the community's location in the extreme northwest, residents of Rocky Ridge Ranch can spend time enjoying the great outdoors in the community ridges, wetlands and ridge that overlook the Rocky Mountains. In addition to all of the green space the community has to offer, residents also enjoy access to the city's extensive pathway network.

While the Rocky Ridge Ranch does not have a community centre, its community association is extremely active. Not only does the community association advocate on behalf of its residents, but it also offers a variety of activities and events throughout the year. These include dance classes, outdoor sports and more.

Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in properties for sale in the Rocky Ridge Ranch community may attend the public schools of Belvedere-Parkway and Banff Trail, with the latter offering a French Immersion program. The Rocky Ridge Ranch community is also served by three Catholic elementary schools, including St. Dominic, St. Luke and St. Sylvester. The Rocky Ridge Ranch community is also served by four different junior high schools. These include the public schools of Simons Fraser and Branton, with Branton offering a French Immersion program. Catholic junior high schools serving the community include St. Jean Brebeuf and Madeleine d'Houet. High schools serving the Rocky Ridge Ranch community include the public schools of Bowness and William Aberhart and the Catholic school of St. Francis.
