Located in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, the residential neighborhood of Renfrew is bound to the north by the Trans-Canada Highway, to the south by the community of Bridgeland, to the east by Nose Hill Creek and Deerfoot Trail and to the west by Edomonton Trail. The area, which consists primarily of residences, does not contain any major commercial or industrial facilities. Regal Terrace, which is part of the Renfrew community, is also comprised largely of single-family residences. While the Renfrew community does feature some small businesses along 16th Avenue and Edmonton Trail as well as several physician offices, residents must go outside of the community in order to access most commercial businesses. Still, the community has much to offer to its residents both inside and outside of its boundaries.
Having undergone extensive development in the 1940s, the Renfrew community provides residents with plenty of opportunity to enjoy outdoor recreation. Ukrainian Pioneer Park, for example, is located on the 600 block of 7th Avenue, while Renfrew Athletic Park features a full-sized football field. Green space can be found next to Nose Hill creek, while additional athletic facilities can be found at the schools and at the Boys & Girls Club. Facilities found in these locations include an indoor skating rink, a swimming pool, an outdoor skating rink and soccer fields. The community association also hosts a number of events and activities within the community centre, which is capable of holding up to 185 people within its main hall. The centre features a commercial kitchen, a lounge, a stage and game rooms.
Children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Renfrew/Regal Terrace community may attend one of several different schools located within the district. These include the elementary schools of Refrew, Stanley Jones and St. Alphonsus, with St. Alphonsus also serving as a junior high school. The community is also served by the public junior high school of Colonel Macleod. Show Less...
