Despite having been initially developed in the late 1960s, the community of Pump Hill was not established until 1991. Today, the community is located next to the communities of Bayview and Palliser, which are all served by the same community association. Initially, the Pump Hill community was located in what is now known as the community of Palliser. Today, the area that includes Pump Hill is bound to the east by 14 Street, to the west by 24 Street, to the south by Southland Drive and to the north by Heritage Drive and Glenmore Reservoir.
Residents of Pump Hill enjoy easy access to a number of the City of Calgary's sites and attractions. With the pathway system linking to the community, the Glenmore Reservoir and its numerous recreational opportunities are not far away. Other nearby recreational opportunities include the Weaselhead Flats hiking trails, boat docks, the Heritage Park Historical Village and Glenmore Park. Closer to home, residents of the Pump Hill community enjoy access to facilities capable of holding up to 75 people in the main hall. The facility also features an outdoor skating rink and sports fields.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Pump Hill community may attend the public schools of Nellie McClung or Chinook Park, with Chinook Park offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic schools of St. Benedict and St. Gerard also serve the community, with St. Gerard offering a French Immersion program. The Pump Hill community is also served by the junior high schools of John Ware, Harold Panabaker and Bishop Pinkham, with Harold Panabaker and Bishop Pinkham both offering a French Immersion program. Harold Panabaker is also unique in that it serves just students in grades 7 and 8, while Bishop Pinkham serves students in 9th grade only. The Catholic junior high schools of St. Cyril and Ecole St. Matthew also serve the community. The Pump hill community is also served by the public high schools of Henry Wise Wood and Dr. E.P. Scarlet, the latter of which offers a French Immersion program, and the Catholic high school of Bishop Grandin. Show Less...
