Named after Captain John Palliser, who was an early explorer and surveyor in western Canada, the community of Palliser was founded in 1967. Linked to the Glenmore Reservoir via the pathway, the community of Palliser is bound to the north by the reservoir and Heritage Drive, to the south by Southland Drive, to the east by 14 Street and to the west by 24 Street. The communities of Pump Hill and Bayview are also located nearby, with the community of Pump Hill once being part of Palliser.
For those who enjoy spending time outdoors, the community of Palliser serves as a good starting point. Not only does the pathway link the community to the Glenmore Reservoir, but it is also located near to the Weaselhead Flats hiking trails, the Heritage Park Historical Village, Glenmore Park and numerous boat docks. Even closer to home, the Palliser's community association is capable of holding up to 75 people in its main hall and features an outdoor skating rink and sports fields.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the community of Palliser may attend one of two public elementary schools, either Nellie McClug or Chinook Park, with Chinook Park offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic elementary schools of St. Benedict and St. Gerard also serve the community. Three public junior high schools, John Ware, Harold Panabaker and Bishop Pinkham, also serve the community. Harold Panabaker, which serves 7th and 8th grade students, and Bishop Pinkham, which serves 9th grade students, both offer French Immersion programs. The Catholic junior high schools of St. Cyril and Ecole St. Matthew also serve the community. High schools serving the community include the public schools of Henry Wise Wood and Dr. E.P. Scarlet, the latter of which offers a French Immersion program, and the Catholic school of Bishop Grandin. Show Less...
