After being annexed to the City of Calgary in 1956, the community of Oakridge was established in 1968. Located to the south of the Glenmore Reservoir, the community's official boundaries include 90 Avenue to the north, Southland Drive to the south, 24 Street to the east and Oakmount Drive to the west. Oakridge Estates, which is a community located within Oakridge, is found to the north of 90th Avenue and to the west of the Tsu T'inna Reserve. Thanks to its location, the community of Oakridge Estates provides residents with easy access to the Reservoir, its extensive shoreline and its recreational area.
For those who enjoy spending times in the great outdoors, the primarily single-family residential community of Oakridge Estates serves as an excellent starting point. In addition to being located near to the Glenmore Reservoir, the community is also situated near to the Weaselhead Flats area, Heritage Park, Glenmore Park, the pathway, boat docks and hiking trails. The Heritage Park Historical Village also serves as a major attraction to residents of Oakridge Estates. Closer to home, residents enjoy access to the community's recreational amenities, which include tennis courts and a hockey rink.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Oakridge Estates community may attend one of two public schools, Louis Riel and Chinook Park, with Chinook Park offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic elementary school of St. Gerard also serves the community, as does the Catholic school of St. Cyril. Junior high students who live in the Oakridge Estates community may attend one of five different schools, including two Catholic and three public junior high schools. The public junior high schools include Louis Riel, Harold Panabaker and Bishop Pinkham, with both Harold Panabaker and Bishop Pinkham offering French Immersion programs. Harold Panabaker is also unique in that it serves only 7th and 8th grade students, while Bishop Pinkham serves only 9th grade students. The two Catholic junior high schools serving the Oakridge Community include St. Cyril and Ecole St. Matthew. Two public high schools, Henry Wise Wood and Dr. E.P. Scarlet, also serve the community.
