Situated at the base of Nose Hill Park, the community of North Haven was annexed to the city in two stages. In the first stage, which took place in 1910, only the southern portion of the community was annexed. The northern portion was not annexed until 1953 and it took another ten years before the community was officially established. Today, the community is bound to the north by 14 Street and Norfolk Way, to the south by John Laurie Boulevard, to the east by Northfolk Way and to the west by 14 Street.
Thanks to the location of the North Haven community, residents enjoy easy access to the recreational opportunities available at Nose Hill Park and in the pathway system. Residents may also participate in a number of events and activities provided through the community centre, which is capable of holding up to 130 people in the main hall. Events held at the community centre include fitness classes, sports and more.
Children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the North Haven community may attend the public elementary schools of North Haven and Highwood, with Highwood offering a French Immersion program. Those who prefer to send their children to a Catholic school may also choose to send their children to St. Pius or Corpus Christi, with St. Pius offering a French Immersion program. Junior high schools serving the North Haven community include the public schools of Colonel Irvine and George P. Vanier, with the latter offering a French Immersion program.
