Located to the north of the community of North Haven, the Upper North Haven community was established after the Thorncliffe/Greenview community was separated into three communities. Following the separation, which took place in 1991, the centre portion was named Thorncliffe, the eastern section was named Greenview and the small area to the east of Nose Hill Park was named Upper North Haven. Today, Upper North Haven and North Haven are served by the same community association, which covers an area that is bound to the north by 14 Street and Norfolk Way, to the south by John Laurie Boulevard, to the east by Norfolk Way and to the west by 14 Street.
Thanks to the location of Upper North Haven, the community is able to provide residents with easy access to a variety of recreational opportunities. Not only is the community located near to Nose Hill Park, but it is also part of the pathway system. Furthermore, the land that comprises Upper North Haven is quite attractive, as the community lies within the foothills and many homes provide attractive views.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in real estate for sale in the Upper North Haven community may attend the public schools of North Haven and Highwood or the Catholic schools of St. Pius and Corpus Christi, with both Highwood and St. Pius offering French Immersion programs. Junior high students may attend one of four different schools serving the community. These include the public schools of Colonel Irvine and George P. Vanier, with the latter offering a French Immersion program, and the Catholic schools of St. Margaret and Madeleine d'Houet. Public high schools serving the Upper North Haven community include James Fowler and William Aberhart, with William Aberhart offering a French Immersion program. For those who prefer to send their children to a Catholic high school, the private schools of St. Francis and Bishop Carroll also serve the community, with St. Francis offering a French Immersion program.
