Despite having been annexed to the city in 1910, the community of Mount Pleasant was not established until 1912. Nonetheless, Mount Pleasant remains one of the oldest of Calgary's communities. Today, the community is bound to the north by Confederation Park's southern boundary and 32 Avenue, to the south by 16 Avenue, to the east by 2 Street and to the west by 10 Street. Thanks to the location, Mount Pleasant provides its residents with easy access to a variety of recreational opportunities as well as the Downtown Calgary area, which is just 4 kilometeres away from the community.
Even closer to home, residents of Mount Pleasant also enjoy access to the community hall, the community swimming pool and the Sportsplex. All three of these facilities are located right next to each other, forming a triangle that surrounds a community playground. At the Sportsplex, residents can participate in pleasure skating, hockey, figure skating and floor hockey. The pool not only offers open swim time and lessons, but can be rented during the summer for private gatherings. The community hall also offers a number of activities and events, including a dance group, fitness classes, yoga classes, a parent and tot playgroup, Girl Guides and more.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Mount Pleasant community may attend the public schools of Rosemont, Buchanan and King George or the Catholic schools of St. Joseph and St. Pius. Both King George and St. Pius offer French Immersion programs. Junior high schools serving the community include the public school of Georges P. Vanier, which offers a French Immersion program, and the Catholic schools of St. Joseph and Madeleine d'Houet. The public high schools of Crescent Heights, William Aberhart and James Fowler also serve the community, as do the Catholic schools of St. Francis and St. Mary's. Both William Aberhart and St. Francis offer French Immersion programs. Show Less...
