Located to the south of 146 Avenue, the community of Millrise was founded in 1982 after being annexed by the City of Calgary in 1961. Today, the community is bound to the north by James McKevitt Road, to the south by Shwnessy Boulevard, to the east by Macleod Trail and to the west by James McKevitt Road. Thanks to the community's convenient location, residents of Millrise enjoy close proximity to a variety of major transportation routes. As such, residents can easily access all that the Calgary area has to offer.
For those who are interested in living in the Millrise community, the community primarily offers single-family residential homes. The community is also located conveniently near to the L.R.T. system and major transportation routes in addition to Fish Creek Provincial Park. As such, residents do not have to travel far in order to enjoy all that the Downtown area has to offer or to participate in a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. Closer to home, the community association provides residents with access to a hockey rink while also providing residents with a number of activities and events to enjoy throughout the year.
Parents interested in homes for sale in the Millrise community may send their children to a variety of different schools. These include the public elementary schools of Eugene Coste, Janet Johnstone and Sundance, with the latter two offering a French Immersion program. Janet Johnstone is also unique in that it serves only Kindergarten and 1st grade students, while Sundance focuses on 2nd through 6th grade students. The community is also served by four Catholic elementary schools, including Our Lady of Peace, Ecole St. Matthew, St. Gerard and Our Lady of Peace. Both St. Gerard and Our Lady of Peace offer French Immersion programs. Junior high students in 7th and 8th grade attend the public school of Harold Panabaker, while 9th grade students attend Elboya.
