Established in 1967, the community of Marlborough is bordered to the north by 16 Avenue, to the south by Memorial Drive, to the east by 52 Street and to the west by 36 Street. Thanks to the community's convenient location, residents do not have to travel far in order to enjoy the downtown Calgary area and all of the dining, shopping and recreational the area has to offer.
Following the annexation of the area in 1961, the community of Marlborough developed into a low-density residential neighbourhood. Yet, thanks to its location just 6 kilometers east of downtown and its connection to major roads, accessing the area's numerous commercial businesses and recreational opportunity's is quite easy. The community is also located next to the Marlborough Park neighbourhood, which features an outdoor skating rink in the winter and tennis courts. The Marlborough community association, on the other hand, is capable of holding up to 400 people and features an indoor fireplace, a stage, meeting rooms, a sound system, an outdoor barbecue, a gym and a lounge.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Marlborough community attend school at Marlborough Elementary, Chris Akkerman Elementary or Mayland Heights Elementary, the latter of which offers French Immersion programs. Catholic schools available to elementary students include Holy Redeemer and St. Martha, which both offer French Immersion programs. St. Martha also has a junior high program available to Marlborough residents. Bob Edwards Junior High, which offers a French Immersion program, is the only public junior high school serving the community. Public high schools serving the Marlborough community include Forest Lawn High School and Lester B. Pearson High School the latter of which offers a French Immersion program.
