Established in 1960, the community of Kelvin Grove is situated next to the southwest communities of Eagle Ridge and Chinook Park. With Glenmore Trail serving as its boundary to the north, Heritage Park and 14 Street to the south, Elbow Drive to the east and Heritage Drive to the west, the community is well connected to many of the city's major roadways. At the same time, thanks to its location near to the Glenmore Reservoir and other outdoor attractions, the community of Kelvin Grove provides its residents with easy access to a variety of recreational opportunities.
With Kelvin Grove's connection to major roadways and its proximity to the L.R.T., residents of the community can easily travel to a variety of areas throughout the city. At the same time, residents do not have to travel far to find regional bike paths, boat docks and other outdoor recreational opportunities at places such as the Glenmore Reservoir, Glenmore Park and Weaselhead Flats.
For those who prefer to say even closer to home, the area's community centre also provides a variety of programs and activities throughout the year. Some of these include wood carving, karate, yoga, dancing, soccer, hockey, basketball and tennis. During the winter months, residents enjoy spending time on the outdoor ice rink, which is also used for inline skating in the summer.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in real estate for sale in the Kelvin Grove community may attend school at the public school of Chinook Park, which offers a French Immersion program, or they may attend the Catholic schools of St. Augustine or St. Gerard. St. Gerard also offers a French Immersion program for those who prefer a Catholic school. Junior high students may attend the public schools of Woodman, Harold Panabaker or Elboya. Both Harold Panabaker and Elboya offer French Immersion programs, though Harold Panabaker serves only 7th and 8th grade students and Elboya serves only those students who are in the 9th grade. The Catholic schools of St. Augustine and Ecole St. Matthew also serve junior high students who live in the Kelvin Grove community. High school students who live in the community may attend the public schools of Henry Wise Wood or Dr. E.P. Scarlet, the latter of which offers a French Immersion program, or the Catholic private school of Bishop Grandin. Show Less...
