As one of Calgary's oldest community's, the history of the Inglewood community dates back to the late 1800s. As such, the Inglewood community offers a rich history that can still be seen and appreciated to this day. Originally situated at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers, Inglewood is still bound to the north and to the east by Bow River, to the South by Elbow River and to the west by CPR Yard. Thanks to community's location combined with its early industrial development, many people were attracted to the community in the early 1900s. Yet, it wasn't until 1929 that the community was officially established. Today, residents of the Inglewood community enjoy easy access to the numerous recreational activities available at the Bow and Elbow Rivers while also enjoying close proximity to the Downtown Calgary area and attractions such as the Calgary Zoo and the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary.
In addition to being located near to many of Calgary's attractions, the community of Inglewood also boasts a community centre that is capable of holding up to 225 people in the main hall. The centre also features a kitchen, meeting rooms, a sound system, a stage and an outdoor barbecue. Other facilities maintained by the community association include tennis courts, a swimming pool, an outdoor hockey rink, sports fields and more.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Inglewood community may attend the public schools of Colonel Walker and William Reid and the Catholic schools of Holy Name and St. Monica, with both William Reid and Holy Name offering French Immersion programs. Junior high schools serving the community include the public schools of Rideau Park and Elboya, with the latter offering a French Immersion program, and the Catholic schools of St. Michael and St. Monica. The public high school of Western Canada, which offers a French Immersion program, also serves the Inglewood community, as does the Catholic high school of St. Mary's. Show Less...
