After being annexed in 1961, the community of Huntington Hills was established in 1967. At this time, a significant amount of development began to take place within the area. In addition to the residential development that took place, a great deal of commercial development took place during this time as well. As such, residents of the Huntington Hills community find that there are a number of shopping options and other businesses available within the community. The community association, which is based out of the Huntington Hills Sportsplex, also provides residents with access to a number of recreational facilities and activities. Bound to the north by the green strip between 14th Street NW and Centre Street N, to the south by 64 Avenue, to the east by CPR Tracks and to the west by Nose Hill Park, the community of Huntington Hills is located on a slightly elevated area of the city. As a result, residents of Huntington hills enjoy excellent views of both the city and the Rocky Mountains. They are also located conveniently near to a number of recreational opportunities, such as those found at a local golf course, at Nose Hill Park and at Nose Creek Valley. The community is also connected to the city's extensive pathway system, providing residents with access to much of what the city has to offer.

Children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Huntington Hills community may attend the public elementary schools of Huntington Hills, Catherine N. Gunn, Dr. J.K. Mulloy, Alex Munro or Highwood or the Catholic elementary schools of St. Hubert, St. Henry or St. Pius. Both Highwood and St. Pius offer French Immersion programs. The public junior high schools of Sir John A. Macdonald and George P. Vanier as well as the Catholic schools of St. Helena and Madeleine d'Houet also serve the community, with George P. Vanier offering a French Immersion program. High schools serving Huntington Hills include the public schools of John G.
