Established in 1981, the community of Hawkwood was named after its original landowners, John and Joseph Hawkwood. Today, the community is bound by Country Hills Boulevard to the north, John Laurie Boulevard to the south, Sarcee Trail to the east and Nose Hill Drive to the west. Thanks to the location of the community, residents enjoy magnificent views of the City of Calgary as well as the Rocky Mountains.
Closer to home, the community of Hawkwood features ample green space for residents to enjoy. The community is also connected to the city's pathway system, which provides them with easy access to a number of amenities within the community as well as throughout the city. The community association also offers a variety of activities and events throughout the year for residents to enjoy. Some of these include Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, baseball, soccer and badminton. The association also hosts a Stampede Breakfast each year.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Hawkwood community may attend either the public school of Hawkwood or Varsity Acres, with Varsity Acres offering a French Immersion program. Elementary-aged children who live in the Hawkwood community may also attend the Catholic elementary school of either St. Maria Goretti or St. Luke. The public junior high schools of F.E. Osborne and Branton also serve the community, with Branton offering a French Immersion program. For those parents who would rather send their children to a Catholic school, the private schools of St. Jean Brebeuf and Madeleine d'Houet also serve the community. The Hawkwood community is also served by three high schools, including two public high schools and one Catholic high school. The public high schools include Sir Winston Churchill and William Aberhart, with the latter offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic high school of St. Francis, which also offers a French Immersion program, also serves the community. Show Less...
