Established in 1990, the area known as the community of the Hamptons was annexed in two stages. The southern portion was annexed in 1976, while the northern portion was annexed in 1989. Today, the community is bound to the north by Stoney Trail, to the south by Country Hill Boulevard, to the east by Shaganappi Trail and to the west by Sarcee Trail.
Unlike most communities in the Calgary area, the Hamptons homeowners association also serves as the community association. As such, the association collects a fee in order to provide upkeep and to enhance maintenance in the area. The association also maintains the community's resources, which include tennis courts and a practice court, sports fields with soccer pitches, a paved bike system, a creative playground and ball diamonds. The association also maintains a paved Olympic-sized hockey rink which features heated, sheltered bleachers and an adjacent kiddie rink. The association also hosts a number of activities throughout the year, including a Stampede breakfast and an annual community cleanup.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Hamptons community may attend the public schools of Hamptons, Varsity Acres or Captain John Palliser, with Varsity Acres offering a French Immersion program and Hamptons serving only Kindergarten through third grade students. The Catholic elementary schools of St. Dominic and St. Luke also serve the community. Public junior high schools serving the Hamptons community include Senator Patrick Burns, Branton and Tom Baines, with Branton offering a French Immersion program. Tom Baines is unique in that it serves only 7th grade students. The Catholic junior high schools of St. Jean Brebeuf and Madeleine d'Houet also serve the Hamptons community. High schools serving the Hamptons community include the public schools of Sir Winston Churchill and William Aberhart and the Catholic school of St. Francis. Both William Aberhart and St. Francis both offer a French Immersion program. Show Less...
