Situated at the easterly base of Nose Hill Park and to the south of the Huntington Hills community, the community of Greenview was founded in 1991. Prior to this time, the community was part of the Thorncliff/Greenview community, which was established in 1954. Despite the separation, the two communities continue to be served by the same community association. The area served by the association is bound to the north by 64 Avenue, to the south by McKnight Boulevard, to the east by Deerfoot Trail and to the west by 14 Street. The area that is known as Greenview is generally located to the southweat of the Calgary International Airport.
Thanks to the location of the Greenview community, residents enjoy easy access to Nose Hill Park, the pathway and all of the recreational opportunities the area has to offer. Residents also enjoy access to a number of facilities that have been provided by the community association, including racquetball courts, a senior centre, an outdoor hockey rink, a 4-lane bowling alley, a playground, a baseball diamond and a tobogganing hill. The association also hosts a variety of events, activities and sports, including volleyball, hockey, ringette, slo-pitch, bowling, baseball, figure skating, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Tai Chi and fitness. While a large portion of the community's land is occupied by industry, single-family homes can be found within the community.
Elementary-aged children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Greenview community may attend the public schools of Thorncliffe, Buchanan or Highwood, with Highwood offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic elementary schools of St. Joseph and St. Pius also serve the community, with St. Pius offering a French Immersion program. Public junior high schools serving the community include George P. Vanier and Sir John A. Macdonald, while Catholic junior high schools include St. Joseph and St. Pius. Both George P. Vanier and St. Pius offer French Immersion programs. Public high schools serving the Greenview community include James Fowler, John G. Diefenbaker and William Aberhart, with the latter offering a French Immersion program.
