Established in 1947, the community of Elboya is conveniently located to the south of Elbow River between Macleod Trail and Elbow Drive. As such, residents of the community enjoy easy access to the Downtown area, which is only 4 kilometres away. Additional boundaries are formed by 4th Street Road to the east and 50 Avenue SW to the south. While the area currently known as Elboya was originally annexed in 1910, it took an additional 37 years before the community began undergoing development.
Thanks to the location of Elboya, residents of the community enjoy beautiful views of both the river valleys and the city. For those who enjoy outdoor recreation, the community's location near to Stanley Park is ideal. The park and its pathways offer residents with ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. At the same time, the community's location near to the downtown area allows residents to allow a wide variety of shopping, dining and cultural opportunities. The community association facilities also provide residents with opportunity to enjoy community activities and to participate in community organizations. Not only do the facilities offer a main hall capable of holding up to 50 people, but it also features an outdoor skating rink and sports fields.
Children whose parents are interested in homes for sale in the Elboya community may attend one of two different public schools, Elboya and William Reid. Both schools offer a French Immersion program, as does the Catholic elementary school of St. Gerard. The community is also served by the Catholic elementary school of St. Augustine, which does not offer a French Immersion program. The public junior high school of Elboya also serves the community and offers a French Immersion program, while the two Catholic junior high schools of St. Augustine and Ecole St. Matthew do not. The public high schools of Henry Wise Wood and Western Canada also serve the community, with the latter offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic high school of Bishop Grandin also serves the community. Show Less...
