Established in 1960, the community of Eagle Ridge is bound to the north by Glenmore Trail, to the south by Heritage Park and 14 Street, to the east by Elbow Drive and to the west by Heritage Drive. The community is closely tied to the neighboring communities of Chinook Park and Kelvin Grove, which were also developed around the same time as Eagle Ridge. Thanks to the community's location near to the Glenmore Reservoir coupled with its connection to Calgary's major roadways, residents of Eagle Ridge enjoy easy access to both the downtown area as well as the natural beauty and sites the Calgary area has to offer.
Residents of the Eagle Ridge community regularly enjoy spending time engaging in recreational activities. With Glenmore Park, Weaselhead Flats, and Heritage Park all being located in or near the community, popular activities among residents include hiking, biking and boating. At the same time, the LRT is nearby and the community is connected to major roadways such as Crowchild Trail, Glenmore Trail and 14th Street, making it easy for residents to travel throughout the area and to enjoy the city to its fullest. For those who prefer to stay close to home, the community centre offers a variety of programs. Some of these include dancing, yoga, hockey, wood caring, tennis and soccer. The centre also features an ice rink, which is used for inline skating in the summer, as well as basketball nets and more.
