Six years after being annexed to the City of Calgary, the community of Dalhousie was officially established in the northwest quadrant of the city. Today, Dalhousie is bound to the north by John Laurie Boulevard, to the south by Crowchild Trail, to the east by Shaganappi Trail and Northland Drive, and to the west by Sarcee Trail. As such, the popular Nose Hill Park, which can be accessed via an extensive pathway system, is housed within the community. The community is also located conveniently near to regional shopping centres, the SAIT and the University of Calgary.
In addition to being located near to a number of facilities and attractions, the community of Dalhousie also boasts an extremely active community centre. In addition to featuring sports fields and an outdoor skating rink, the community centre also hosts a variety of activities throughout the year. Some of these include a Kindermusic program, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, skiing and snowboarding lessons, volleyball, karate, soccer, fencing, dancing, Kung Fu, babysitting courts and youth group. For adults, the community centre offers classes in folk art, country dancing, skiing, tai chi, yoga and snowboarding. The association also hosts a variety of special events, such as craft fairs, a Winterfest Celebration, art sales and a Stampede breakfast.
