As one of the oldest residential communities in Calgary, Crescent Heights as originally annexed to the city in 1911. Despite experiencing some development prior to its annexation, the community was not officially established until 1914. Today, the community of Crescent Heights is bound to the north by 16 Avenue, to the south by Bow River, to the east by Edmonton Trail and to the west by 4 Street and Crescent Road. Thanks to the community's location, which is above the north escarpment of the Bow River Valley, it is effectively bisected by Centre Street. As such, residents of the Crescent Heights community enjoy direct access to the Downtown area and all of the amenities the area provides.
Closer to home, residents may also take advantage of a number of facilities and events provided by the community association. The community centre, which is capable of holding up to 208 people within its main facility, features a standard kitchen, an indoor fireplace and a stage. The community association also maintains tennis courts, an outdoor skating rink, a wading pool and sports fields for residents to enjoy.
Parents of elementary-aged children who are seeking homes for sale in the Crescent Heights community may attend the public school of Rosedale, Stanley Jones or King George, with King George offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic schools of St. Joseph and St. Pius also serve the community, with St. Pius offering a French Immersion program. Public junior high schools serving the Crescent Heights community include Colonel McLeod, Rosedale and George P. Vanier, with George P. Vanier offering a French Immersion program. The Catholic junior high schools of Madeleine d'Houet and St. Joseph also serve the community. High school students who live in the Crescent Heights community may attend the public schools of Crescent Heights or Willim Aberhart, with the latter offering a French Immersion program.
