Established in 1959, the community of Chinook Park is bounded to the north by Glenmore Trail, to the south by Heritage Park and 14 Street, to the east by Elbow Drive and to the west by Heritage Drive. Thanks to its location near to the city's major roadways, Chinook Park provides its residents with easy access to all that the city has to offer. At the same time, the community is situated near to a wide variety of recreational opportunities, providing residents with the best of all that the Calgary area has to offer.
For those who enjoy outdoor recreation, the proximity of Heritage Park, Glenmore Park, Eagle Ridge and Weaselhead Flats are all good reasons to call Chinook Park home. The community is also located near to the Glenmore Reservoir as well as numerous bike paths and boat docks. The community centre also hosts a variety of activities and programs throughout the year. Some of these include wood carving, dancing, karate, hockey, yoga, tennis, basketball and soccer. The centre also features an outdoor ice rink, which is paved so it can be used for inline skating during the summer.
For those seeking homes for sale with elementary-aged children who live in Chinook Park may attend one of three schools, two of which are Catholic. Chinook Park Elementary School, which is the only public elementary school serving the area, offers a French Immersion program. The other two, St. Gerard and St. Augustine, are Catholic elementary schools, with only St. Gerard offering a French Immersion program. Junior high students who live in Chinook Park may attend one of three public schools, including Woodman, Harold Panabaker and Elboya. Both Harold Panabaker and Elboya offer French Immersion programs, with Harold Panabaker serving 7th and 8th grade students and Elboya serving 9th grade students. The community is also served by two Catholic junior high schools, St. Augustine and Ecole St. Matthew. Two public high schools, Henry Wise Wood and Dr. E.P.
