Established in 1995, the community of Chaparral is bound to the north by Highway 22X, to the south by 194 Avenue, to the east by Bow River Valley and to the west by MacLeod Trail. Due to the community's location, residents enjoy easy access to the Downtown Calgary area. Here, residents can explore a variety of retail and dining establishments as well as a variety of sites and attractions. Still the primary attraction for more residents of the Chaparral community is the 32 acre man-made lake and the 21-acre park, which features two waterfalls, found within the community.
For Chaparral resident who want to enjoy the great outdoors, the community offers facilities for fishing, skating, boating and diving. In addition, the Chaparral community offers a recreation centre, which boasts a full-time director. With so many recreational opportunities available to select from, residents of the Chaparral community have little reason to ever want to leave.
Parents of elementary-aged children seeking homes for sale in the Chaparral community may attend the public schools of Chaparral, Fish Creek and Sundance or the Catholic elementary schools of Mother Teresa, St. Cecilia and St. Sebastian. Both Sundance and St. Cecilia offer a French Immersion program, while Chaparral is unique in that it focuses solely on students in grades Kindergarten through fourth grade. Fish Creek, on the other hand, focuses only on those students who are in the fifth and sixth grades. The Chaparral community is also served by the public junior high schools of Midsun and Fairview as well as the Catholic junior high schools of Ecole St. Matthew and Father James Whelihan. Of these four schools, Fairview is the only one to offer a French Immersion program. High school students may attend the public high schools of Centennial and Dr. E.P. Scarlett, with the latter offering a French Immersion program, and the Catholic high school of Bishop O'Byrne. Show Less...
