The progressive new urban community of Currie, also known as Currie Barracks, is a residential and commercial development on a former Canadian Forces Base in Calgary West. Taking a cue from the historic buildings and officer’s residences that remain on the site, Currie real estate features single-family homes, the architecture of which echoes early 20th Century homes. Classic designs, urban estates, luxury town homes and a variety of apartment-style condos in a modern, urban community. Canada Lands purchased this area in 1998, the area was made environmentally sound and a grand plan put into place to capitalize on the history, preserving the parade square and street names honouring the battles and brave military figures of Canada’s great World Wars. Currie is south of Richmond Green Golf Course and west of Crowchild Trail next door to Mount Royal University. Read More...

The criteria for this is walkability (within 5 minutes of shopping, parks and transportation), sustainable landscape, environmentally sound management of storm water and green building practices.
