Situated at the eastern edge of developed Calgary, the community of Castleridge is bordered by 64 Avenue to the North and McKnight Boulevard to the south. Its eastern border consists of 68 Avenue, while 44 Street serves as the west boundary. Established in 1980, the community of Castleridge, provides residents with great views of the city and the mountains while also remaining conveniently near to the Calgary International Airport.
Residents of the Castleridge community enjoy being part of one of the most active community associations in Calgary. The association, known as the Falconridge/Castleridge Community Association, is one of the most active in Calgary. This is partially due to the fact that the association is home to the North of McKnight Community Resource Centre, which offers 19 social services to residents. These services include immigrant services, counseling, parent support, baby clinics and financial aid. The centre also features a before and after school childcare program as well as 8 playschool classes.
Parents of youth looking for homes for sale in the Castleridge community enjoy easy access to the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary's numerous activities and facilities. Not only does the organization have an office located in the North of McKnight Community Resource Centre, but it also boasts pool and foosball tables. Other organizations that meet in the Walsh and Auxiliary halls of the centre include Kumon, Boy Scouts, dance groups, Karate and prayer groups. In all, the main hall of the community association is capable of holding up to 275 people, while the auxiliary hall can hold up to 125. Children who live in the Castleridge community have a variety of educational options available to them. Public schools for elementary-aged children include Falconridge Elementary School, Grant Macewan Elementary School and Mayland Heights Elementary School, the latter of which offers French Immersion programs. Elemetnary-aged students may also attend John XXIII Elementary or St. Wilfrid Elementary School. Public junior high schools include Terry Fox and Bob Edwards, the latter of which offers French Immersion programs. French immersion programs can also be found at the Catholic St. Martha Junior High School, or residents may choose the John XXIII Junior High.
