Established in 1963, the community of Canyon Meadows provides its residents with a very active community centre. Some of the programs offered at the Canyon Meadows community centre include dog training, Jazzercise, dance classes, Tai Chi, Girl Guides, Brownies and Yoga. With the main hall being licensed to hold up to 160 people, the community centre is able to host a number of activities for residents to enjoy throughout the year. Residents also enjoy access to two skating rinks, a skateboard ramp and basketball nets at the community centre. With Fish Creek Park, the Calgary pathway system, Canyon Meadows Pool and Canyon Meadows Gold and Country Club also located in the area, residents enjoy a seemingly endless array of recreational activities to select from. Children who live in the Canyon Meadows community may be educated in one of four different elementary schools. Ethel M. Johnson and Canyon Meadows School both serve students in grades kindergarten through 4th grade, while Robert Warren serves 5th and 6th grade students.

Elementary-aged children who wish to participate in a French Immersion program may attend Chinook Park, while those who are interested in a private education may wish to attend St. Catherine. Junior high students who wish to participate in a French Immersion program may attend Harold Panabaker, which serves 7th and 8th grade students, or Elboya, which serves 9th grade students. The public school of Robert Warren also serves junior high students, as do the Catholic schools of Ecole St. Matthew and St. Stephen.
