Established in 1998, the community of Bridlewood is situated next to the Somerset community in the southwest corner of Calgary. The community is bordered to the north by 162 Avenue, to the south by Marquis of Lorne Trail, to the east by Macleod Trail and to the west by Sacree Trail Estension. Thanks to its location and its ample open space, the community is a great choice for those who are interested in spending time outdoors while also remaining near to the downtown area.
For those looking for real estate for sale who enjoy wildlife watching, the community of Bridlewood offers the prefect location. With the Bridlewood Creek Wetland located next door, the community provides residents with opportunities to view two dozen types of birds as well as an abundance of flora and fauna. Furthermore, plans are in the works for community recreation areas and parks. At the same time, the nearby Shawnessy centre provides residents with plenty of shopping opportunities and city amenities. Downtown is also only a short distance away, providing residents of the Bridlewood community with access to the best of both worlds.
While Bridlewood does not currently have a community centre, residents still have ample opportunity to enjoy a variety of community events. Some of these events are held in the grand historic Shawnessey Barn, while others are held in Spruce Meadows or in neighboring Midnapore. Nearby Somerset also provides residents with access to baseball diamonds and a waterpark.
Residents of the Bridewood community have numerous elementary schools available to serve their children. The public school of Janet Johnstone, which services kindergarten through 1st grade students, and Sundance, which services 2nd through 6th grade students, both offer a French Immersion program. The public school of Midnapore provides another option for elementary-aged children, as do the separate or Catholic schools of Mdgr. J.J. O'Brian, Mother Teresa, Father Doucet, St. Catherine, St. Jude, St. Stephen and St. Gerard, with St. Gerard offering a French Immersion program. Show Less...
