Located in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, the community of Bowness is bound to the north by the Bow River, to the south by 16 Avenue and Sarcee Trail, to the west by 101 Street and to the east by Bow River. Although the community was officially established in 1911, population growth was slow until it was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1964. Today, residents enjoy easy access to a variety of recreational opportunities, such as those available at nearby Bowness Park, Shouldice Pool and Athletic Park, Bowmont Park and Edworthy Park. The city's pathway system offers additional recreational opportunities for residents to enjoy.
In addition to the numerous recreational opportunities that are located nearby, residents of the Bowness community can access a number of activities and groups that are close to home. The community centre, which is capable of holding up to 750 people within its main hall, hosts activities and groups such as Boy Scouts, the Bowness Historical Association, satellite bingo, Girl Guides, hockey and figure skating.
Children whose parents are seeking homes for sale in the Bowness community may attend one of three different public elementary schools.
