With the change of every year so does the ‘in’ paint colour. 2020 was filled with darker greys, blues, greens, and oranges. As we roll into 2021, the paint scheme is changing as well.

 2. Update that old Kitchen Backsplash

Kitchens are known to be the focal point of your home. This tends to be where most of your time is spent with the family. One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to update this space is with a new ‘trendy’ backsplash. According to mydomain.com, the following backsplash trends are popular for 2021.

Handmade/Organic materials vs. Traditional Cement

The “subtle yet exciting” alternative to cement is handmade and organic backsplash tiles. Handmade tiles allow for variation with every piece. This will bring character and depth to your space.

Ditch patterns and stick to a classic marble look

If you are not one to keep up with the yearly trends and seek a look and feel that will test the sands of time, choosing a marble backsplash could be up your alley. Marble offers a clean, classic look that will be in style for years to come.

Take the Backsplash all the way up

Like floor-to-ceiling windows, extending your backsplash from the top of your countertops to the base of your cabinets. If you do not have upper cabinets in an area, take the risk and bring the backsplash to the ceiling. This look will open up your kitchen space and make the room seem higher than it is.

Say Bye-Bye to Subway Tiles and Hello to Shapes and Textures

Yes, subway tiles are known to be a classic, clean look for a kitchen. It's time to say bye-bye… using “out of the box” shapes and textures will make your kitchen your own without overwhelming the kitchen design.
