Located in the inner city of Calgary, the community of Bankview is bordered to the north by 17 Avenue, to the south by 26 Avenue, to the east by 14 Street and to the west by 19 Street. Having been established in 1908, Bankview is one of the oldest communities in the city. Since its original establishment, the community of Bankview has undergone numerous changes, with the most notable taking place in the 1950s when it underwent a complete redesign.

Residents of the Bankview community enjoy beautiful views of the downtown area as well as easy access to a variety of community amenities. Some of these include tennis courts, a basketball court and a community playground. With a main hall that is licensed to hold up to 201 people, the community centre regularly hosts a variety of activities and events. Some of these include dance, Tae Kwon Doe and mom and tot playgroups. The community also hosts a number of special events each year, including the September Heritage Day celebration, during which the community's rich history and historical homes are recognized.

While there are no public schools located within the boundaries of the Bankview community, two public and two separate schools serve elementary-aged children who live in the community. Public schools include Richmond and William Reid, with William Reid offering a French Immersion program. The two separate schools include Sacred Heart and Holy Name, with the latter offering a French Immersion program. Junior high schools serving the community of Bankview include Mount Royal and Elboya, with Elboya offering French Immersion programs. The separate schools of St. Monica and St. Michael also serve junior high students in the community.
